Yen Bai Star Golf Club
About
Scenic and water-heavy 27-hole course a couple of hours outside of Hanoi
Located in Yen Bai Province in northern Vietnam, Yen Bai Star Golf & Resort is set amid the scenic landscapes of the country’s northwest. The course, designed by the experienced Peter John Waddell, makes extensive use of the region’s natural terrain, which features rolling hills and diverse vegetation including palm groves, tea hills and cinnamon fields. These natural surroundings give the course a distinctive character that reflects the landscape of Vietnam’s northwest.
One of the most striking aspects of Yen Bai Star Golf is its setting beside the expansive Minh District Lake, which provides scenic water views and strategic hazards throughout the layout. Many holes are routed across gently undulating ground, creating elevation changes that add both visual drama and strategic interest to the round.
Rather than reshaping the environment completely, the development aimed to preserve much of the existing landscape and vegetation, allowing the course to blend naturally into its surroundings. This approach helps give Yen Bai Star Golf a strong regional identity, while also supporting the resort’s wider vision of combining golf with eco-tourism and nature-based travel experiences.
The result is a course that balances challenge with relaxation. The varied terrain ensures that golfers face a mix of uphill and downhill shots, while the open countryside and lakeside vistas provide a tranquil setting for a round. As the surrounding resort infrastructure continues to develop, Yen Bai Star Golf & Resort is positioned to become one of the emerging golf destinations in northern Vietnam.
