Premium and very well-maintained 27-hole layout with excellent facilities
Set on gently undulating terrain on the banks of the Dong Nai River, the Nelson & Hayworth-designed Long Bien Golf Course is an attractive 27-hole layout featuring some of the best surfaces in Hanoi, thanks to the meticulous conditioning of the Paspalum fairways and TifEagle Bermuda greens. A beautiful landscape of tree-lined fairways, significant earth mounding and numerous sand traps and water hazards, it's a real treat to play, although the often elevated putting surfaces mean that your short game will need to be on point.
After a fairly gentle opening, the A Course toughens up with the par-4 3rd, where a drive over water must be followed by an accurate approach to a green guarded on both sides by substantial bunkers; that's followed up by tough par-3 over water to a narrow green with no less than five bunkers front and back, and there's even more sand to cope with on the long par-5 5th, whose fairway pinches and narrows around the numerous bunkers.
The 6th is another par 3 with water from tee to green, but the narrow landing zones of the par-5 9th will prove more tricky, with your second needing to find the slim channel of safety between the lake and the pair of bunkers intruding into the fairway.
The B Course is even more bunker-heavy, with the opening two greens both surround by five massive sand traps and the landing zone off the tee on the par-4 4th likewise besieged by sand. The 5th is a short par-3 with water from tee to green, a further trio of bunkers allowing no room for error, and there are a couple of very challenging approaches to negotiate on the run-in, with your approaches to the 7th and 9th both needing to flirt with a watery grave.
While the C Course starts out fairly straightforwardly, don't get complacent. The par-4 4th plays into a green nearly completely ringed by sand, the 5th is a par 3 that plays to a tiny island green, and the 6th requires an intimidating water carry off the tee to a narrow landing zone with bunkers on both sides. The final hole is a memorable par 3 with sand almost from tee to green, and there's yet another sand trap beyond the putting surface for those who overclub.
The clubhouse at Long Bien is one of the best in Hanoi, with luxury locker rooms, a full-service spa and massage area, and an excellent restaurant serving local and international dishes. The caddies are, unusually for Vietnam, all male, but they are well-trained, equipped with range finders and generally speak good English.
Overall, the Long Bien Golf Course is an enjoyable layout with excellent facilities and service, making it a great choice for your next golf holiday in Hanoi.

Hurry up and wait, and wait. And wait…..
When have you ever turned 9 to find 32 people lined up to tee off, including caddies. They asked us to hurry up and tee off early for our front 9 and then we waited over 45 minutes to tee off on our 10th hole! The starter said the tee sheet was full and there were groups ahead of us….but there was no communication with us by the starter….until we asked…. Our caddies were awesome. Skilled at knowing our game and reading greens. Greens were some of the best we have played in Vietnam. Fairways not great.In good weather and dryer conditions it must be a good course.
It was a rainy day but the greens were the best we had seen in Vietnam. As a visitor, it was difficult as very few people spoke english. It is a very challenging design with well protected greens and greens have many tiers. Most frustrating was they asked us to tee off early because we were a twosome. We finished the front in 1:50 only to get to the 10th hole to find 30 people standing on the tee (including caddies). The starter said nothing until we asked what was going on. He gave us a lame excuse that the course is busy. It was an hour before we teed off for the back nine.Not an easy course but fun
The course is well maintained. Caddies are nice and helpful. Smooth check in and check out. Buffet after the game is an added value.Course Info
